I think usually there’s more crude humor, possibly words like “damn”, “hell”, or “ass”, and it can be a little scarier/darker in PG movies versus G. But I agree that it seems pretty arbitrary and there’s no public list of what’s allowed in each that I’ve been able to find.
I’m here to satisfy my addiction to doomscrolling. Bring on the memes.

I have tried so hard to own an orange or a blue car. I owned a blue one for a beautiful four months before somebody rear ended me and totaled it. Since then it’s only been ugly, boring silver.
There was a spin-off show called Sam and Kat (Cat?) with these two characters. But it was right around when Ariana Grande’s music took off I think so it didn’t last long

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Necessary post procedure care for vasectomy
1·6 months agoThe directions I saw recently were no arousal for two weeks, then ejaculate 20 times over 2 months, then send in the sample. If the sample doesn’t come back clear, then repeat after 2 more months. Insurance does not cover the testing kit.
This happened at a restaurant with a door dash driver. I was breastfeeding in the backseat and she got in my drivers seat. Was super apologetic when she realized. The kicker is that her car, which was next to mine, was a completely different make and model. Just a similar color. I always locked the doors when breastfeeding after that.
The seatbelts are more so that the non-verbal autistic kids don’t start running down the aisles and pushing buttons while the bus is moving. Also, kids aren’t “regular” or “irregular”….
Our school uses them for pretty much all students with special needs not just mobility issues. It gives them a shorter route, less kids, more adult supervision, and the option for seatbelts.
That’s the worst. Have you spoken up about it? I think they try to be the most convenient and to be “with the times” without realizing that one way does not fit for everyone.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL how to discover emotionsEnglish
31·6 months agoI’m thankful that a lot of early childhood places are really beginning to focus on emotional awareness. There are so many resources for social-emotional learning for kids now. My child’s preschool is SEED certified (https://www.nmececd.org/seed/) and she’s been working on a feelings journal. At our elementary school we have social skills groups where we explicitly teach kids about emotions and also teach them life skills (we have small groups of kids playing board games to handle taking turns, losing, etc). At home and school we have these little “spot” of emotion stuffies and an accompanying book that explain what an emotion is, what it feels like, and what we can do about it. Our school also uses the zones of regulation (pic) to not only help kids understand but to also help the staff understand how our students are feeling.

I was concerned when my kid started soccer and they wanted parents to get an app to get updates on cancellations and to see the game and practice schedule. Fortunately there is a browser version and the app is not necessary. They just don’t advertise this.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•A secret is something you keep, whilst a surprise is something you give.
5·7 months agoSurprises have an end. Secrets are forever. A surprise is a secret for now, but I can tell you later. Secrets are things I can never tell, which can be dangerous.

Games@lemmy.world•Day 393 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playingEnglish
2·7 months agoThe chronological version is definitely better on later playthroughs. The gameplay and story work best in the original version. The chronological story is just interesting to see what information the characters are working with in later scenes and to see some parallels.

5·7 months agoMy husband is playing the chronological version right now and literally finished this part when I scrolled past your post. He played this game when it first came out; we stayed up all weekend to finish.
It looks like the percentages are based of a total of $37.95, so it’s possible there was a discount included that made their total closer to $30.
Not saying this isn’t real and completely scummy, but sometimes the tip is calculated before discounts, gift cards, and whatnot. I always tip based on what our total order was even if what we paid was less. If this is truly trying to fudge the numbers to take advantage of people then that’s shitty.
I would kill time with this for a little while but over the last few months the audio lag has made it unusable in my opinion. After opening and pressing play it would take a few seconds for it to start playing, and then after swiping to the next one the audio from the previous one would keep playing for a few seconds. I could swipe through like 4 or 5 videos until the audio would catch up. Also, the hashtags are nice but at the moment they function where I have to select one, watch it, swipe back to the hashtag page, select another one, and repeat. I want to just be able to scroll through hashtags or someone’s account instead of clicking on individual videos (like you used to be able to). My following page gets stuck after a few videos where I can’t scroll anymore too. I’ll reopen it when the update drops, but there’s definitely issues to iron out.
I have a literature.cafe from even before my lemm.ee account, but it doesn’t federate with piefed (at least in any way that I’ve noticed). Several communities I follow switched to piefed so I wasn’t able to see or follow them with literature.cafe

The colors are indicating speed and not heart rate I think. Makes sense that they went faster close to home and slowed down inside the house.
