  • mortgage rates are climbing

This shouldn’t be cited as a bad thing with inflation where it is. Interest rates are the primary lever that the Fed uses to control inflation. When interest is higher, inflation cools down. When you lower them it heats up. Not that it’s that big a help when the price of gas is doubling because of *checks notes* an unending war in the Middle East that nobody asked for.

Constant, nonstop lowering of interest rates ordered by a fucking idiot from 2016-2020 (going to near ZERO) most directly caused the current housing price situation. Guess which idiot I’m talking about. That’s right, the same guy who has been trying to do the same thing for the past two years because when property values go up, so does his bottom line and nothing else in the world fucking matters to the orange dipshit.

  • The country won’t be able to do this because, as strange as it is, 33% of it is literally in a cult that worships the man. Only with the true and full will of the country behind you could you hope to do what needs to be done: full asset seizure and trial for crimes and treason and whatever proper associated punishment follows.

But you can’t do it, because he fully controls 1 out of every 3 people you see on the street in America. While that’s far from a majority, it’s enough to make a proper accounting impracticable. 33% of the country would be going feraljak about the government being weaponized.

But even beyond him, there’s something else that desperately needs doing and that’s an overhaul of the Constitution. The document was fantastic for 1787. It is woefully inadequate to run the modern United States. Its biggest shortcoming, ironically, is the absolute inability of government to properly and deftly respond to the very success that it’s principles have brought to it.

None of it’s going to get done until everybody is so miserable that they no longer have anything tribal on their stupid, small minds. There’s going to have to be real pain, like starvation and suffering going on before real change is going to be able to be effected because people are still fat and happy enough to sit around and guffaw while Trump owns the libs, even as the cost of everything around them doubles.

  • This was what came to my mind as well, however Google does let you turn off your history for YouTube and when you do that (as I do) it just shows a blank page when you go there, so that’s one way it can be done.

Nobody does it because everybody likes to pretend they don’t like the crack until they have to go without. I do it on principle because YouTube has single-handedly changed a particular member of my family, one of the most innocuous people in the world, to someone who has loathsome opinions. I hate it a lot and don’t want that for myself. I am on no social media that serves up anything based on your previous clicking behavior.

  • Things I know I signed up for, on purpose or inadvertently, get one attempt at unsubscribing. If it fails, they’re spam and get treated as such. I never actually sign up for these things, but I accept that they put me on these lists when I make purchases or engage with them in some other way. I accept it, but I don’t like it - and my patience with them when I try to unsubscribe is extremely limited.

But things I “signed up” for and things Gmail asks me if I want to unsubscribe from - are two very different things. Gmail asks me that question several times a week. I “sign up” for things at a rate more like several times a year. Things that I didn’t subscribe to that want me to unsubscribe are just scammers trying to polish their lists up and I’m not gonna help them.
