    Kind of a pointless comparison as we all know that x11 is EOL and Valve is hightailing it with significant improvements with Proton + Wayland.

    A no-brainer comparison seeing the Wayland performance in the lead tbh.

    I checked and it wasn’t mentioned in the article; just choosing a wayland session is not enough, the games are by default ran through the xwayland compatibility layer. you need to start each game with the DISPLAY variable unset in order to run wine in wayland mode.

    When I tested I few years back, games were running significantly slower and everything was “glitchier” on Wayland. Because of this I did stick with x11 and was dreading its deprecation, but I should really give wayland another try!
