It's something I've been hoping for a while now, and Nintendo have officially confirmed that Gamecube games are heading to NSO once the Switch launches.
Nintendo have announced that The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, and Soul Calibur II will be launching first with other games such
My steam deck has better Gamecube support than the official Nintendo next gen console, let that sink in…
Perfection *👌
Yeah mine does too. That doesn’t mean we can’t be glad to see some actual official support on these games for the first time in 20 years. Emulation is great, but so are steps in the right direction.
I’m just glad we’re getting a new first party GameCube controller.
We’re just looking at it thusly: If a community can make ad hoc janky tools to emulate a console, why can’t the platform holder do it? The answer as usual is money. Nintendo could release a wealth of gamecube games with minimal effort, especially with their 1st party library that can eschew music licensing and so on. But no, 3 games, we don’t want the scrubs to play windwaker instead of purchasing the V3 of BoTW… So, pardon me if I don’t consider this something to be excited for when it ostensibly is being purposefully trickled down.
If they would add an easy back compat on release to the full library of GC cames I’d buy the S2 day one. As is, I’ll keep emulating on the deck and sailing the high seas.
Were you expecting to have every game available from day 1? I’m sure they could, but they are a business and they probably want to make money.
excusing drip feeding because a multi-billion company need that sweet subscription money? For shame.
I have no clue what happened in the world and what made people become this religious about corporations.
Nintendo happened, as they apparently can’t do no wrong.
Nothing excusable about it, you just shouldn’t be surprised that big greedy corp wants to maximise profits, and that an open system can run more games than a locked down console
Oh, I am not surprised… just disappointed.
