Ahh yeah the design that all teslas have with the idiotic door handles? You mean the Chinese government are making safety a priority?

Or the chinese can’t follow installation instructions as these are the same door handles in all the other Tesla’s in the world that have no issues.

Not like the original BYD door handles that were control by wire so if the power is off you cant get out and burn to death. I will give china credit that they fixed that issue after a bunch of fiery deaths.

Except close to 1m of those were US built?

              https://www.forbes.com/sites/tylerroush/2026/08/21/china-orders-teslas-largest-ever-recall-for-nearly-3-million-cars/

China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) said in a statement Friday that Tesla would recall 973,156 Model 3 vehicles manufactured between March 4, 2019 and April 29, 2026, 1.96 million China-made Model Y cars made between Nov. 16, 2020 and April 30, 2026, as well as more than 35,000 imported Model 3s, 8,000 Model X and 2,000 Model S vehicles.

But china by your post only imported 35k Model 3’s?

                35,000 imported Model 3s

So thats 938,156 chinese built failures

                1.96 million China-made Model Y cars made between Nov. 16, 2020 and April 30, 2026

You list no import data so were these all built in china? More data found, yes all where built in china and they exported 78k of them abroad. So all recalls are on china.

I’m not going to bother w/ the X or S models.

The recall is due to Chinese safety standards, teslas built in all regions would fail if the same standards were pressed globally.

It’s nothing to do with the quality of the veichle and everything to do with unsafe designs according to the Chinese government. The fact that many other brands having the same issues within China shows their standards changed recently and lots of cars are classified as dangerous.

The quality of the Chinese made Teslas exceed the US made cars, check Australian Tesla owner groups and see the difference in issues compared to the US.

The non top tier BYD have their blade LFP battery. The LFP chemistry is much safer, you can literally drill a hole into it: video

EDIT: the thumbnail is from the comparison NMC battery
