Touting the US acquisition of majority control over one fifth of Venezuela’s oil reserves, he claimed the arrangement comes at “no cost to the American Taxpayer … and will substantially lower Gas Prices for all Americans, long into the future.” On the Venezuelan side, Rodríguez claims the deal will generate $200 billion in tax and royalty revenues for her country. But the deal is nothing short of highway robbery at the point of an imperial sword.
This article has several false statements in it. It isn’t a 100 year deal, it’s a 25 year deal, so the extrapolation of 2 billion per year based off Rodriguez saying it would bring 200 billion in revenue is blatantly false. They also quote multiple Venezuelan right wingers in the article and mostly rely on US state department for their information.
Upon looking at the website further, they also condemn Iran by “standing on the side of the open letter” recently published by Angela Davis et al about Irans political prisoners.
They also claim Cuba is the only socialist project left.

So what is your analysis of the oil deal? (BTW, the sources aren’t from the State Dept.) I know the people who write the articles, and they are not “reactionaries”.
Your article is just a pile of half-baked slanders posing as analysis.
If they are co-signing reactionary letters, writing articles against AES and anti-imperialist nations, using the state department as a source (the only source of the “100 year deal”), they are doing the work of reactionaries. Everything I said is true, it isn’t half baked or slander, they are verifiable facts which take seconds to confirm.
So far, the only semi-valid point I see is about the years of the agreement. The US says 100, Venezuela says 25. Both figures pander to their domestic audiences. The article quotes many sources, from the left and the mainstream press. Throwing out a reference about “right-wingers” doesn’t hold up if someone actually looks at the article.
The Angela Davis letter about Iranian politicial prisoners is a controversial topic, and there are various points of view on the left. But that doesn’t make them “reactionaries”. Slandering those who have political differences as reactionaries shuts down any meaningful discussion among those fighting against imperialism.
You still haven’t given an alternative analysis about the oil agreement. One question - what is AES?

The first words of the article are a quote from Trump. The article soon goes on to use the bad math I criticized in my original post, which is blatantly wrong and a lie. The article is flatly lying and misinforming people, and to what end? I have seen plenty of articles say “trump said 100 years, delcy said 25,” but this author only presents one side of the information, which immediately undermines their credibility and shows that their framing is against Venezuelans. Trump is presented as the teller of truth, and his is the only side presented for that part of the article.

Delcy was elected as vice president and since the president is no longer able to govern, the elected vice president is now the interim president. This person says they weren’t elected and the other person says Maduro was a dictator. These are literally right wingers, being quoted and framed as simple “working-class opposition.”
actually, when your imperialist nation is in the middle of a war against another nation in an attempt to destabilize them and steal their resources, posting an open letter that gives credibility to the idea that the enemies of the US are also bad is reactionary. It’s not “various points of view on the left,” it is careerist, wealthy people with CIA connections who have a decades long track record of being counter revolutionaries. They use their proximity to revolutionaries in the 60s as a shield to promote US imperialist talking points and make large salaries in the process. I’m not slandering them at reactionaries, I’m letting their actions speak for themselves and not being tricked by their words. You may enjoy allowing people to manipulate you into believing things that are obviously false, but I am a materialist and need evidence to form my perspectives. Someone can say they are on the left all they want, but when they start promoting the idea that the enemies of US imperialism are also bad too, they are working for the US state department’s interests, not the left’s.
