Netflix Inc. has seen a decline in user engagement, with customers opening the app less frequently than before. Although total watch time increased due to new subscribers, individual viewing has decreased significantly during this period. The company is facing challenges such as increased competition and fewer hit productions impacting viewer attraction. In response to these issues, Netflix has made leadership changes to strengthen its content strategy and overall business model.
Fuck Netflix. Capitalist hell machine.
We could have free streaming via public library systems, or something else that’s not a profit driven malice, but this is the bad place.
The library app is called Kanopy (for in the US). I use it all the time
My library isn’t on there.
Try Hoopla instead.
We need to revisit copyright laws. Life of the author plus 70 years just encourages people to make money off work they had nothing to do with. 15 years then free domain.
That’s what I always say. Weirdly, a lot of people who don’t have anything copyrighted themselves argue for longer copyright.
I would argue this with “but what about franchises getting slopped up with content that doesn’t fit the original narrative/characterizations?” But then I look at what Disney has done with Star wars and marvel and realize I don’t really have leg to stand on.
Disney is largely responsible for the life plus 70 years rule. And they’re still trying to maintain control over steamboat willie!
15 years max! I was thinking 5 lol
