Demonstrators gathered in cities across the U.S. on Wednesday to protest the Trump administrationā€™s early actions, decrying everything from the presidentā€™s immigration crackdown to his rollback of transgender rights and a proposal to forcibly transfer Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

ā€¦

The protests were a result of a movement that has organized online under the hashtags #buildtheresistance and #50501, which stands for 50 protests, 50 states, one day. Websites and accounts across social media issued calls for action, with messages such as ā€œreject fascismā€ and ā€œdefend our democracy.ā€

Sure, and because Americans believe theyā€™re heliocentric, they can just ask literally the entire world to ignore their generalisations.

How are you so self-important and havenā€™t drowned like narcissus yet?

I am not from the USA (or any other part of the American continent for that matter). In a thread about protests against fascism in the US, taking place in the US, I think itā€™s fair to assume the ā€œyouā€ refers to US citizens. If there was a thread about Brazilian politics I would assume a similar post refers to Brazilians and thatā€™s fine IMO. US exceptionalism is real and no doubt many US Lemmy users also fall into that trap, but this particular post just doesnā€™t seem problematic to me.
