I absolutely DO NOT have a mediaserver in my own home with a BDrom that can rip movies from physical media for my own personal use… I do not scour charity shops and car boot sales for music, movies and tv shows to put on there and I do not have around 70TB of storage and I am certainly not looking to expand the HDD’s in the new year.

I was converted from a pirate to a subscriber about 10-12yrs ago… But the enshitification of everything makes me yearn for my old hat once more.

Make public transport, cheap and frequent through the country, along with a cheap reliable car share/hire scheme… and you’d see the need for cars dwindle.

It’s easy for certain types of people to claim the high ground, when they have no idea what it’s like for everyone else… they live in gilded cages in cities with cheap and easy to access public transport… so they have no need for a car… and thus no one has a need for car either… they’re so blinkered, they might as well be blind… and the ignorance that goes with the preachy mentality is even worse.

So when I can walk to the end of my road and catch a bus to the next town over… without it taking over 2hrs to travel 6 miles… via a 16 mile trip in the opposite direction and changing buses that means sitting around in the freezing cold for 40 mins… I’ll consider giving up the car… But the chances of that happening are ZERO because ‘capitalism’ dictates we must CONSUME, CONSUME, CONSUME… there is no will with govts or the rich to do a damn thing… and the rich account for around 49% of ALL individuals emissions.

So take the preachy bullshit and shove it somewhere dark and stinky.

That’s the option I take… deleted FB in 2012, Twitter in 2018 (not that I actually used it, posted maybe 20 things in 7yrs) and have never used any of the others. I’m on mastodon and lemmy, I use signal & telegram and have to suffer whatsapp for immediate family.

I told everyone else that I was only going to make an effort with people who made an effort with me… and that solved the fake friends side of the problem… Because all I got for years was ‘but you’re not a facebook’ as a reason for their laziness and entitlement that I must bow to their convenience as it’s far more important that protecting my mental health.

If you have a hobby… that hobby is legal, it causes no harm to others and it brings you enjoyment… and anyone… ANYONE… puts you down for it, berates you, mocks, makes out your enjoyment is purile, childish… that person is a wanker… plain and simple. They think they everyone else must live their life according to their standards, their idea of fun and anyone who doesn’t conform to their beliefs is a lesser person who deserves to be ridiculed.

When I have to describe social media… I do as follows.

There are 3 types of social media users.

1: Those with wealth who have no worries and can portray the image of living the simple life full of hobbies and joy… which is easy to do when you don’t have to work 2 or 3 jobs just to pay the bills. they hoard wealth instead of giving. 2: Those that have no wealth and are desperately trying to convince others that they do, and that their life is so much better than yours. 3: The sheep that believe both of the above and would like to fit into one of those groups.

Meanwhile… the ones actually living the simple life, their best life, the relaxing life… aren’t on corporate owner social media willing giving up their privacy and freedoms so a billionaire can get richer.

Better way to look at it, he did a speed run through the game and completed it with 30% of the whole game done… The other one is doing all of the side quests and extras so he can get 100%

The games are listed on GOG, basically as games that have existed but they are not available to purchase.

Far to many people don’t understand the difference between theory and scientific theory… One is a postulation on how people thing something works not based on provable and repeatable facts… whilst the latter is (based on current understand of those provable/repeatable facts).

It’s Darwinism in motion for the world to see… and it’s both saddening to see and hilarious to watch as people posted… ‘Not wearing masks, covid is a hoax it’s no worse than the flu’… and then over the coming weeks… see them posting… got covid, it’s hell, please pray for me… can’t breathe, in hospital, they refuse to give me invermectin (or whatever that drug was), doctors are trying to kill me… and then they die as a result of their own ignorance and hubris.

I do try to take credit for Trumplethinskin or Trumplthinskin as I’ve been using that one for about a decade now… can’t say if I was the first or not.

It gets even better when you tell them that the tories, removed every single legal way to apply for asylum, leaving the only possible way for them to apply is to get here illegally and make their claim then. It’s literally an artificial and deliberately engineered problem to stoke division and rile up the bigots to vote for those promising to fix the problem… and all of those making those promises are grifters only looking to gain power and wealth for themselves.

Me: No the numbers those percentages are based upon are the facts and figures… that’s just a statistic derived from them.

Me: There was a decrease in deaths from 4 to 1 over the previous year… and those 4 deaths happened because of 1 traffic collision that claimed all 4 lives… technically a 75% reduction in deaths. But the number incidents that happened actually increased from 64 to 73.

That’s a pretty accurate account of how these things go… claim a % refuse to provide the numbers… numbers actually show a difference that could almost be within a margin of error, or rely entirely on random outliers that massively skew the data and from a statistical point of view are so far from the avg that they are discounted.

It’s like when people claimed that femisism was causing a spike in divorce and pointed to a % rise in the 70’s… when the actual causes was women being able to achieve financial independence, because they didn’t need their husbands permission to get a mortgage, or a loan, or even a credit card… and were able to safely leave abusive marriages and become independent.

Same thing happened with a spike in left handed people being reported… after practices forcing lefties to use their right (by abusive means) was stopped.

In both cases… the avgs went along at the same rate, suddenly spiked and then carried on at a level rate again.

Same happening right now with autism diagnosis, sudden spike as it’s understood and diagnosed more easily… then levels even out once more.

You can apply this statistical logic to almost anything that the bigots claim to be ‘a sudden spike in (insert bigoted view here)’… attitudes change… suffers no longer hiding who they are and society as a whole being more open and tolerant of it. But the bigots always scream the loudest and they’re becoming emboldened to reveal their true selves more and more… If anyone needs to be back in the closest stewing over their own hatred… it’s those pieces of shit. But on the bright side, it makes them easier to spot and shun from civilised solciety.

A person can be smart… but when they start to group together, the avg intelligence declines and mob mentality takes over.
