I understand where you’re coming from, but I don’t think that Trump has anything resembling a plan. He reacts to events, minute by minute, generally in the most cruel and hateful way possible.
He has plenty of advisors and backers who have coherent long-range plans, and they are making a disturbing amount of progress, but they’re hampered by Trump’s volatility and lack of focus. It also helps that those trying to define his agenda mostly have different interests.
We are screwed.
Bear in mind that it doesn’t actually say “AI” girlfriend. It says “IA” girlfriend. I grew up in Iowa and this all seems perfectly normal to me.
That approach makes up a large part of the world in which we now live. It is also one reason why things are as messed up as they are. On the other hand, whether or not to read the news has become a major mental health issue, so I’m not going to blame anyone who avoids it.

The character was intended to be a thoughtful conservative, and I thought they did pretty well with that. I’m somewhere to the left of Bernie Sanders, but I don’t mind watching intelligently written characters who I disagree with.
Also, I will watch almost anything with Jeff Daniels. He is one of the most versatile actors of our time and he brings depth to every role. His performance is what made “Pleasantville” for me. (I hate Dumb and Dumber, but he added something to it.)

I’m giving it a try. It does look like a good option. My only concern is that there don’t seem to be many source options for the US. There were several that showed up as unavailable when I first started, it that no longer show as options now that I’ve configured it. I’m puzzled.
I don’t think that is a characteristic of our species. It is not universally true across other cultures.
And studies strongly suggest that the characteristic that was most important to the early survival of humans was altruism. There are always a lot more people who are basically good than basically bad. Only around 4% of the population are sociopathic.
Unfortunately, promoting sociopaths is a built-in characteristic of capitalism. Without controls, it rewards managers who are willing to sacrifice other people for profit (or power). The people who do that the best are those without empathy. So we end up with the worst of us making the decisions about how the world should work.
Why does anyone care what Trump or his appointees say? They have firmly established that they lie most of the time. We should just ignore their statements and look for independent accounts.
What’s weirding me out is that I know at least two-thirds of those from the original. And I was only aware of maybe half of the more recent covers.

Trump has always been happy to throw underlings under the bus. Nothing will change until Trump and those directly under him are replaced.

I keep seeing responses along these lines and I feel that, while essentially correct, they oversimplify the situation in ways that are misleading.
The US government has undergone a huge qualitative change in the last year. It was far from perfect before then, but the rule of law, however badly realized, is now gone. The mechanisms are still there, and could still be restored, but when we have to ask whether the executive branch will abide by court rulings, we do not have it at present.
The current situation had its origin around fifty years ago, when the rich took over the Republican party, stopped acting in good faith, and began seriously gaming the system to take power and become richer. Before that, there were still plenty of issues, but we had been heading in the direction of improved civil rights and better protections for individual citizens. Now we have a two-party system where one of them does not represent most of its own members and is intent on completely subjugating the other party. It does not want to govern, it wants to rule.
Our system of government has always had problems, it has never been entirely fair, but it had been gradually improving over time. Acting as if nothing special has happened with that lately is ingenuous.
Why does anyone still bother to read sentences that begin with “Trumps says…”. Whatever it is, you know it’s going to not only be a lie, but a particularly unconvincing lie. The only times he doesn’t lie are when he says something that isn’t true because he doesn’t understand the subject.
A free press should report such things as “Trump inaccurately claims…”.
