I maxed out my donation to Bernie and voted for him. In the 40 years I’ve been voting, I’ve never voted for a conservative, or Republican, neither federal, state nor local. I’ve always voted as far left as I can.

Here’s the largest solar farm in California. It covers sand. Also, solar panels don’t block 100% of the light getting to the ground, so different species of plants and animals can live and thrive under them. The land under solar panels is not lost to natural use. Life will adapt.

That said, solar panels over car parks is also a good idea. Both things can be true.

As a boomer-adjacent 60-year-old, with an adult son living at home, it’s the economy, stupid.

But, more than that, the world has gone to shit. And, no, that’s not the boomer generation’s fault. It’s the fault of the billionaires and the ignorant people of all generations who have voted for conservatives over the past 50 years.

The American public judges the state of the entire economy mostly on gas prices. Politicians all know this. This glib retort shows how confident they are that Trump will control the mid-terms.

This was a well-discussed standard corporate recusal.

Which ignores his obvious influence outside of the vote. It is “standard”, but it doesn’t change a damn thing, which of course, they all know very well. They all sit on each other’s boards, and exclude, as well they can, any other shareholder from gaining a seat.

This is what I’ve done for 35 years. My current build is almost seven years old. My previous build, now 12 years old, is my current media server, the ones before that are recycled.

Also, by the time I build a new one, I need to research everything all over again, because it’s all changed so much. I don’t keep up with the hardware very well between builds.

I don’t think this defeats the purpose, as I don’t expect a computer to last forever. I do reuse what few parts I can, such as power supplies, cases, fans, and hard drives.

Switching to Linux breathed new life into my current, newest machine, built in 2019. I lost track of time, and didn’t realize it had been that long, but it runs fine and does what I want it to do, so why blow money on a new machine?

Regular readers of /r/teachers are not surprised. Teachers have been sounding the alarm for decades, as they still are.

Also, if you love your kid, you’ll teach them to read. I mean books, real books, long books, no pictures, “chapter books” (which was a term I’d never heard till recently. Because, of course, books have chapters, why would one need to differentiate between… oh.) Read to them, read with them, talk about books with them, take them to the library, and take them to the book store. Give them books as presents.

My state is on this list, near the bottom, but my kid isn’t.

Yeah, we know, Trump still has about a 30-40% approval rating. We know! It’s in every damn poll.

Also, since they’re just asking AI now, instead of surveying actual people, what’s the damn point of these polls?

I’m hoping Colbert will start a podcast, so he can do and say what he wants to, without the constraints.
