That’s definitely what my scripts, that I moved to using, do. Maybe the feature was missing back then

And it can also do three-way, bi-directional sync. Which feels kind of crazy to me
Ah. Then it must have not fit my use-case at the time. I don’t remember
Can you define which remote dir should be synced where? That might have been my issue
I’ve been using pcloud. You can choose for the data to be hosted in EU. Doesn’t have a client but works well with rclone (and Round Sync on Android). And from time to time they offer “lifetime” package - no subscription
INeedMana@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•There is probably a subsection of vampires that use careful sun exposure as tattoos or bodymods1·2 months agoSorry, tonight I can only go as far as Wikipedia
If an upiór harassed a human at night, the remedy was to stop the upiór returning to its grave - at dawn it would disappear or change into black tar
There are two citations for that sentence but digging out the sources is too much for me tonight. Maybe there is the reasoning behind changing into tar and reference to some older sources
I think there might have been also some mention of power of the sun in some Mickiewicz work. But apparently not in “Upiór”. There it complains to Venus
But true, that is not exactly the express-sunburn OP wrote about
INeedMana@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Socialism is the actual teaching of Jesus4·2 months agoThat’s my point, I wouldn’t be surprised, unfortunately
To be fair, I couldn’t get through it either. But I’d guess if one decides to take something as their guidance, it would be a good idea to read it at least once
INeedMana@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•There is probably a subsection of vampires that use careful sun exposure as tattoos or bodymods1·2 months agoI’m pretty sure that before 1800s some things had to be dried on the sun because otherwise it goes bad. And it would be more in the form of folk wisdom. There I would search for connection “sun does good” -> “kills vampires”
INeedMana@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Socialism is the actual teaching of Jesus72·2 months agoNot necessarily. Punishing theft or manslaughter is not oppression. And it makes sense to have systemic safeguards against those
INeedMana@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•There is probably a subsection of vampires that use careful sun exposure as tattoos or bodymods2·2 months agosunlight itself as something to cause significant harm to vampires appears to have originated with Nosferatu in 1922
I think it’s older than that. But you’d have to search for folklore about garlic, sliver and sun, instead of a book. And Stoker kind of merged together a few Slavic wights from different countries into his Dracula

INeedMana@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Socialism is the actual teaching of Jesus123·2 months agoIMO it made sense in the times when enforcing the law was harder to do. But a lot of time has passed since then, religions (as in whole communities, priests and followers) somehow made it their point to not change much

INeedMana@lemmy.worldto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Socialism is the actual teaching of Jesus6·2 months agoFor all their “christianity”, republicans in the US are pretty hypocritical
No, no, you were indoctrinated by people with agenda
Jesus was saying, and everyone was obeying, like a good person does/s in case it’s not clear
Depends how one looks at it. From purely practical POV, probably 90% of us don’t need to bolt their doors so much. But as a principle, as a society we’ve lost the “war” on privacy so much, that it really takes a long way to pull the dial back to where it should be

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahimsa_in_Jainism#Ascetic_practices_for_adherence_to_Ahimsa
Jain ascetics sweep the ground before them to avoid injuring the most minuscule forms of life. They generally brush the ground clear of insects before they tread. Digambara monks do not wear any clothes and eat food only when it is not prepared for themselves. Ascetics of the Śvētāmbara tradition wear a small mask to avoid taking in tiny insects.
Apparently, some already try since quite some time now
I don’t think they do, honestly. Being rich does not necessarily mean being smart
And those who pay for not being brought up on the lists of most rich, probably don’t use tech themselves
Their wealth comes from stocks, bonds and land, not an account that can be hacked. Their safety against kidnapping for ransom comes from being pals with most of politicians and/or having clout in the right circles to help any politician that will ping high enough to be allowed to get an appointment

At that point just let me ditch the formality and send over the summary in the first place.
A tangent a little bit but so much this. Why haven’t we normalized using fewer words already?
Why do we keep writing (some blogs and all of content marketing) whole screens of text to convey just a sentence of real content?
Why do we keep the useless hello and regards instead of just directly getting to the points already?
AFAIK it hasn’t been used as an OS yet (meaning init - the thing you start after bootloader). Or a bootloader
Right?
