Every genre has genuine effortfully made games and also cash grabs. I feel like many monster catchers get subjected to undeservedly high levels of criticism because some people seem to think that Nintendo should get to own the entire genre. Pickmon imo is definitely a cash grab but there are many other monster catchers that aren’t.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Funny how people are outraged about AI “deception”… but we’ve normalized filters, makeup, and push-up bras for decades.English
17·27 days agoPushup bras are really fuckin’ comfy. They have extra padding on the bottom so it’s like your tits get to rest on a cloud all day. I wear them purely for that reason. I wear makeup and pushup bras because I like them. I know some guys tend to find this hard to believe but we women don’t exist to please you.

2·2 months agoThat’s strange. I just tested it on my machine and it is still working so there must be something weird going on that makes it only work for some people. I am using Debian and have it installed with extrepo, perhaps it is an issue with a specific release?

2·2 months agoI use the latest version. I also have resist fingerprinting disabled and sync enabled. It’s been a while so I don’t quite remember but I think one or both of those might be required for it to work. I know resist fingerprinting disables a lot of stuff so for convenience I disable it and instead use a JS blocker.

Kinda difficult to do when you’re autistic but yeah. I have gotten a few interviews at least but no job offers.

12·4 months agoI graduated college last year and I’m still in unemployment hell. I have a CS degree so now I’m too overqualified for retail and too underqualified for tech jobs, despite the fact that I have made numerous projects and have tried my best to upskill, I’m still not good enough apparently. It is super frustrating and demotivating to wake up to rejection emails month after month after month.

28·6 months agoI used a Windows VM when I was in college. Even if you are pursuing a computer science degree, yes, some professors assume/expect that everyone will be using Windows. Using a VM also has the added benefit of you being easily able to get rid of all the programs they made you install as well once the semester is over.

I am applying to entry level positions. I have a resume website I made as well as some projects. My most recent uses Spring Boot + React.
Thanks. I will go look into that.
I got a CS degree earlier this year. I’m Autistic and am genuinely really passionate about it. I’ve put out hundreds of applications and got 1 interview but was ultimately rejected. I’ve tried applying to retail positions, even with a dumbed down resume so I don’t look overqualified, and they don’t want me either. I’m extremely low on money and I’ve been getting really bad panic attacks lately. I don’t even know what to do anymore.

1·7 months agoDawg, I’m autistic and I’ve read it like 10 times and I still don’t understand what the bottom part means. Like if it’s meant for me it doesn’t make sense and it would make sense applied to OP but then why is it not a reply to OP?

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Being a 22-year-old virgin or being 22 and never having been in a relationship is something to be shameful about.English
13·7 months agoI guess I should be very ashamed of myself then. I got my license at 21. I’m now 22 and still a virgin. I’ve known for a long time that I move slower than others and I really don’t care. Like genuinely why do some people think having sex at a young age is like the most important thing ever?? Like why do you even care?

politics @lemmy.world•After Charlie Kirk's death, teachers and professors nationwide fired or disciplined over social media postsEnglish
1·8 months agoThe issue is that they are causing real harm by expressing those views. I know that there are people out there who hate me just because I exist and I know that will never change. While their words do not directly hurt me, they have the capability to incite physical violence against me which definitely can hurt me. It is not just me I worry about. My heart breaks for the victims of hate speech. People kill themselves because of it. People get murdered because of it. That is why it needs to be illegal.

politics @lemmy.world•After Charlie Kirk's death, teachers and professors nationwide fired or disciplined over social media postsEnglish
21·8 months agoI did specify protected class. That means no hate speech towards people based on race, culture, nationality, and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, religion, age, disability, etc.
Note that political affiliation and wealth are not protected classes.
I do not think it is dystopian or fucked up to fire someone because of hate speech. I would not want to be treated by a bigoted nurse. I wouldn’t trust that they would treat me properly. And I wouldn’t want to work with a bigoted person. I would be afraid of them. These people are bad for companies and cause loses. They should be fired. And that’s just looking at it from an economical point of view.
