Well that’s actually a great thing: many instances will defederate/block thread, some will federate. Freedom of choice

I agree, I do the same. But the second part of your reply « who cares those aren’t the guys », years and years watching the fediverse trying to kickstart the whole thing proves it wrong . We, fediverse users, do need those people onboard
All true. And yet sadly until mastodon or better say another fediverse instance do have algorithms and a brain dead stupid onboarding and hyper cool phone apps, that will not do for 99% of the people.
Unfortunately most users don’t care about privacy, they only move then (subscriptions) prices rises
That rewrite just for the sake of using .net is insane
It depends: are you in Soviet Russia ?
See it wasn’t that hard:
I know that, in my mind the algorythm or maybe better to said the algorythm’s parameters run on client side, no need to create a Fediverse instance on client side. We can already to something a bit like that with word filters.
Appart broadcom being the worst, vmware has to go now…
It would be nice to have some kind of user controled algorythm. Maybe even running on client side for privacy.
“we use that password for ever and we have no problem”
Because of the fediverse partial mesh, leading to incomplete timeline view, or inconsistency depending the instance you’re on.
People tend to flock on primary, massive instances because they are well know of course, but also because this is where you have the most complete view, and from there your posts reaches many other instances.
You can change the UI if you selfhost it is like themes.
And it seems that new themes are coming in the next releases.
Approved, gshock here 🙂
Time to cut social media too
Cut TV, cut the news. You can’t do anything about world pain anyway.
Loved my pebble watch, got burned with kickstarter campaign for pebble 2 (bid lost money gone when it was cancelled because fibbit taking over right at this moment).
Since then I went back to Casio and will not look at a computer on a wrist anymore, not even Apple Watch or repebble.
I’m still looking for a cheatsheet mapping journalctl commands to plain tail+grep on var log files…
I don’t see why, it’s simple as much as I enjoy the fediverse ideology the current status of this part of internet show how little it is relevant the the vast majority of people. And yet it’s a good thing to allow both fediverse purists and ones that don’t care connecting with the « others » social networks live together.
