My old laptop is running Pop!OS on 8gigs really well. I mostly do document editing, vector graphics, and a little light gaming. Have not updated to COSMIC yet so will see how that goes. I definitely dont load it up like my beefy desktop though.

Same here. They really underestimate how much more annoying ads are

I think this might be a multi level move to get you to do just that (and to push whatever that other vpn is) Imo the best thing to do is disregard anything meta says and keep up your own diligence

You have to be decent tho
Thank you ive always wondered about this but never wondered about it when I had the chance to look it up and now I know :)

Theyll just manufacture another reason to keep prices high

Im not sure where you’re seeing companies only want you for 40hours. Kitchens and serving you are often expected to work more than 40hours. Sure you may get overtime if your boss isint a theif but whats overtime on minimum wage or even a bit above? Barely anything. Salaried positions its also very strongly implied that you will put in more than 40 hours in many places. Sure you dont have to but expect to stagnate or be put on PIPs

What do you mean? There have been tons of really good indie games lately and even the old ones are still great to play

Whats confusing about it? People took something that was going bad and made it good again. Thats the benefit of open source. Even if Mozilla goes closed source the already existing forks can continue

I cant wait until they integrate Flight simulator

Help I used grub to switch engines but forgot to switch fuel type now it only boots into emergency mode

Why not just ship it without any of the AI stuff and give users the option to install and use it instead of bloating the application? This also confirms that the stuff is essentially OPT OUT instead of OPT IN

Almost every commercial door has a door closer rhat does exactly this?

Hey isint that buoy or at least power generated by waves idea something thats currently kinda being done though?

Good soup thank you very much for doing the math. I was struggling

Its less about the profit and more about offsetting costs. Yes one door wouldnt be really worthwhile but in this circumstance you’re using parts you already need to maintain and run(door pistons and accessibility) and the complexity added to the system could be bypassed should it fail without impacting that core operation

Yes as you typically do with most forms of generation. One door wouldnt do much but multiple doors opening and closing constantly all day surely has the potential to generate some amount of energy.
Ive been in places where the door basically doesent stop moving for hours at a time, even if the door doesent close fully its still moving by someone either opening it wider or it coasting back towards closed position. Compliant exterior doors are typically set to take about 8.5-10lbs of force to open. Im not super good at math but surely that much “weight” moving constantly could generate some electricity. There are small wind turbines that move with less force constantly

That doesent make sense though because automatic doors and handicap accessible doors already have motors which also can be generators and are otherwise connected to power??
Like the only complexity I can think of would be smoothly and safely delivering the power back to the buildings grid but we definitely have overcome these complexities in other applications
Edit: has there been a study or at least some math done on how much force goes into opening and closing doors in commercial buildings?
It only breaks sites because RFP is on by default and some greedy sites dont like RFP. You can just turn it off and use a good user agent mask (if you care about fingerprinting)
