

I can answer this.
For the most part, I’ve been a lurker on Lemmy. Same with Reddit before this. I still upvote posts but haven’t felt the need to comment or post myself. There’s no shame in this.
After reading the Telegraph article, I searched Lemmy to find other opinions on the topic, but couldn’t find anything.
I felt this was a detail that the community should be aware of, and felt strongly enough to post.
The reality for me is, I’m saddened by the events taking place in the world right now. This is not a time for us to sit back and remain silent. We all need to start speaking up.

Also, my Lemmy account creation date coincides with the Reddit API controversy in 2023.
I felt strongly enough to take action and quit reddit after that mess too.
I do agree with you though. There are definitely active misinformation campaigns on social media - even Lemmy is targeted by polictical trolls and shills.
It’s good to have some critical thinking and question everything. I’m with you.
