Not sure exactly how it relates to the homunculus (unless people perceived the homunculus as trying to grow a perfect being, though I can’t say I’ve ever heard of that) but it’s certainly an interesting point about perceived perfection never changing and that’s what all them paintings symbolise.

True. I’m not 100% sure if that was the historical purpose of homunculus (or even what their purpose was other than to make one) but I guess it could be.

The fact that we live in a world full of robotics and other things we’ve made that do everything for us speaks volumes to your point though, I do have to say that.

I guess, in a legacy kind of way, we’re still working on that homunculus, just one made out of metal and plastic, numbers and code.

Actually, I first encountered the term on YouTube — one of them ‘mysterious YouTube videos’ compilations where someone had claimed to made one with a chicken egg or something. That’s what led me to research the topic. Also, I only used historical search terms like ‘homunculus alchemy’ or ‘homunculus history’ which might explain why I didn’t see it.

I’m asking: beside the folding space thingy point, what else do the folding phones have in terms of appeal to the consumer (specifically the consumer who doesn’t see any advantage in the space/size points?

Absolutely I see your point, I just wondered if there were any other points (ones that might appeal to people who don’t find that particular point appealing), but it doesn’t appear that there is (unless anyone can suggest an alternative to the gimmick). If there is a point, but I don’t see any benefit of that particular point, then to me there is no point. So if there are any other points, I would consider. Idk if I explained my point of view well enough (I did try to explain I considered the folding to be a gimmick in the post above) but that’s it as best I can explain it.
