I don’t know if it’s the circles I’m around or what, but this is not my experience at all. As someone with a nonverbal autistic loved one who was bullied with this slur, I disagree with the idea that it doesn’t cause harm to continue to use it. If someone uses it I ask that they don’t use it around me and that’s been respected. Language evolves over time, and we need to evolve away from using what was relatively recently a medical diagnosis as an insult.
A measured response. Personally, I think that a lot of pubs are going to pivot that direction- Gen Z aren’t big drinkers, and if the trend continues they’ll need other sources of revenue than alcohol.
It sounds that we are on the same page, in that it should not be difficult to vote. Logically it follows that introducing barriers to voting is wrong.
As for the financial piece- all I will say is that circumstances change. $50 dollars may not be much to you (or it may not have been much at the time of the initial name change), but it could mean the choice is between being able to vote or being able to eat.
Friend, I don’t think anyone is arguing that it’s impossible. The problem is that there’s an additional burden (financial and administrative- have you ever changed your name? It’s a nightmare.) being targeted at mainly women with a side benefit to the Republicans of affecting trans folks.
Do you see how that is inequitable access to voting?
How do you feel about gastropubs?
A little glass vial? A little glass vial!
Cthulhu is a priest whose role is to summon the ancient ones. In this context he is the middleman.
If they were happy then the Kids would be Alright.
Hayao Miyazaki’s art style specifically has so much life injected into it, that you would have to be incredibly specific to even approach his style.
There’s an instance that stands out in Spirited Away, when Chihiro is putting on her shoes, she taps the toes of one foot against the ground to set it on correctly. A miniscule detail, but one that makes her feel more real. You’d need such an elaborate prompt to make that happen via AI, but thats the kind of detail that he includes in his movies. To him, the thought of having “someone” illustrate that who has never put their shoe on incorrectly and had to fix it is beyond inauthentic. That’s my take. Less about the worry of technology taking over, and more about the technology not understanding the language it’s being taught, because it can’t.
Don’t you know? Kids these days only know something twerk something eat hot chips something be bisexual etc…
It’s poverty and brainwashing. Boyboy did an incredible breakdown on how the us military was the biggest YouTube sponsor a few years back.
But that’s why you do a single snow pea, with a repeater behind. Until you can save up for winter melons, then you replace 3/5 sunflowers with them in the back row and have two rows of repeaters. Then some tall nuts and spikeweed (my beloved).
GATTACA! GATTACA!
Did you ever get Fallout London working??
He’s a streamer whose chat makes fun of him for being fat. Caseoh.
Xitter wasn’t around in the 90’s, was it?
Right? His sharpie hurricane map begs to differ.
Last Podcast on the Left. They’re a comedy podcast and cover “horrors real and imagined”- true crime, some morbid history, and paranormal stuff. One of the hosts has struggles with bipolar disorder, and “not your fault, but it is your responsibility” comes up often when they speak about people who have done horrific things and blame their mental illnesses.
If you’re interested at all, they did a recent series on the tragedy of the Batavia which speaks to the horrors of untethered capitalism that I think might be up your alley.
Edit: forgot to mention, Hail Yourself used to be how they would sign off the podcast until one of the hosts left last year.
So there’s that, but also the position of “special counsel” or whatever dumb title he holds is time limited. You can’t be an unelected government official indefinitely (although I’m sure the current administration would change the rules if they cared enough to keep him). He’s making it sound like he’s bowing out, when it was the plan to step down in May from the beginning.
