I couldn’t read any of that

I couldn’t read any of that

I get that for stuff like billboards and tv/radio commercials… But why does google and friends keep telling me about how they need my data to give me targeted ads? If they wanted to give me targeted ads, shouldn’t they first figure out how much I’m willing to pay, then get mad at me because I can’t pay for anything and maybe offer ads for mental health services?
I mean obviously the answer is that they just want the data for control and whatnot. But they should just drop the whole pretending to do targeted advertising. I would probably appreciate their honesty if they just told me that they need my data to grow their business, instead of giving me the “we care about your data” and targeted ads bullshit lol
But anyway, doesn’t really matter for me personally since I use ad blockers, if I can’t use ad blockers, I’ll stop using the service and go read a book.

But at least one of those rivers was on fire

I would have thought that posting to a English language forum would be done in English… I mean I know it doesn’t say specifically to post in English but I kinda assumed it.
I know we have all sorts of technology these days, but it should be on the OP to do the translation. I’ve noticed on reddit there has been a increase in people commenting on their native language, I asked on person, who was commenting in French, why do they not post in English. Apparently new reddit has a translation feature? I wouldn’t know because I used old.reddit. But anyway, I ended up just ignoring the comment rather than going through the trouble of opening a tab, copy pasting the comment, translating the comment, then writing my own comment and translating that.
Also, lots of translators are pretty shit at translating certain languages, for example my native language is Finnish and every time someone uses a translator to speak Finnish to me, its extremely obvious because its nowhere near correct.
So, to answer your question, yes we do have tech, but it fucks up all the time and its not our job to translate posts by others in a clearly English language forum.

EUUU! (said like a new jersey mafioso says “eyyy”)

Yeah I was specifically talking about how google etc tell me that they are offering me “targeted” ads. Point was, if they knew anything about me, they’d know I’ve been poor as fuck for the last 20 years and should advertise food banks etc to me, instead of the latest Macbook Pro AI Super 2000.

I’ve been watching a lot of Antiques Roadshow clips and I imagined one of the appraisers doing a valuation of your shenanigans.
“You bought this magnificent piece sillyness when and for how much?”
“oh I just copypasted it to my profile for no money at all”
“Well that was very good deal indeed, because on in todays money the entertainment value alone is in the hundreds of pounds.”

Isnt that what Floatplane is? I’m broke so I can’t find out lol

If they actually wanted to show ads targeted to me, first thing they would figure out is if I’m capable of buying their stupid bullshit product. I’m poor as the rat in the church, my monthly budget is literally -50€. I can’t afford to buy anything, what good does it do for advertisers to let me know that they have a new phone that costs 1500€ and is 0,05mm thinner than the previous one?

lol I have no idea if it works, but if I watch a random video, I delete it from the watch history because I fear that if I don’t, the algo will go bonkers. So far it seems to work though lol

The “shorts” platform is pure garbage. Can I turn shorts off? No I can “show fewer shorts”.
Once again the pirate version (revanced) of youtube is better than the actual paid version. Revanced and ublock filter take care of shorts for me. Haven’t seen them in months

You can also just use a ublock filter to block shorts

Anyone know if theres such an app for LG tv’s?

Yeah it was very bad. I think I got barely 25% in before I gave up.

Isn’t it some blog post that was edited into a book?

What do you mean sadly? That’s great news

Firefox donations will be solely used for Firefox development
This might be a stupid question… but how much developing does a browser actually need? I get security updates and such but how much resources does that stuff really need? Full disclosure: I’m a dumb lorry driver I have no idea how these things work. Some years ago I realized I hadn’t updated my browser in at least a year, maybe two and I had no issues lol

Oh yeah I just read how AI keeps suggesting nuking everyone. That sounds like a great success. (I get what you mean, I just wanted to be a wiseass)
Is that really news these days?
