I say they are two different use cases. There is often a very wide gulf between a comment that I feel does not contribute to good discussion and one that is so heinous that it needs to be removed. Most of your comments for instance: pretty naive and banal adding little good to the discussion overall, but I don’t feel that you’ve said anything hateful, obscene, or aggressive enough to warrant total removal. Usually I just downvote and move on, especially when I don’t want to hear that person’s bad take reply on my own point of view. I’ve made an exception here for you simply because you are trolling all over this thread, seemingly inviting downvotes. But, I’m going to block you and move on because you’ve killed any interest I have in this thread or the larger discussion. I still don’t think your comments rise to the level of reporting.

Reports and blocks aren’t a replacement for downvotes and if your instances doesn’t federate downvotes you shouldn’t use them that way.

Even Starbucks doesn’t really call that just a macchiato. It’s a latte macchiato. If it had Carmel on top and vanilla in the milk it would be a caramel macchiato. It both cases, to any fool that cared to pay attention, macchiato simply means marked. If you point that out to someone and you that rather than being right about what it’s called, it quickly becomes clear if they are just rightly confused and ignorant or looking to start some drama. Some people get VERY aggressive when they sense any slight on their pride. Some people have some very outsized feelings about how Starbucks makes and names their products.

Same deal with the short, tall, grande, venti, trente vs. small, medium, large, 20oz, 30oz. confusion. That one was tricky because Karen’s would misinterpret the calling of the drinks to the bar as a correction. Those people were generally miserable and hopeless.

Diplomatically negotiating these kinds of conversations is a special kind of hell, but the lessons can be valuable. Unfortunately, it’s a skill that most people don’t get paid enough for.

Those sun visors (and pretty much any soft case or sleeve type holder) absolutely devoured CDs. I had one too, everybody did, but I only let mine eat my burned CDs (mostly mixes I crafted with cross-fades and normalized levels using foobar2000 and a pirated copy of SoundForge) and carefully curated MP3-CDs. COVID bump

Being able to fold down a larger “sheet” display so that it fit in a pocket would be pretty cool. Having extra room for reading things like maps and comic books is so much better than pinching and zooming on a pocket sized display. What you call limited purpose, I call functional design. I’m kind of over all-in-one devices. They’ve turned into Jack of all trades, but master of none.

Obviously that’s not what this device is, but it got me thinking about why I’d want a device with multiple e-ink displays or a foldable display.

Funkwhale is more like running your own Lemmy instance and building a community. By ignoring the second half of their comment you’ve missed the subtly that “panel” is an overly broad term and there are several different kinds of panels that collect energy from the sun for human use, among them photovoltaics, panels for heating residential water (often seen as black roof panels with pipes), and complex mirror (aka reflective panels) arrangements for melting salts. All of them use panels in some form.
