Hmmm… I have a Samsung (and using the default phone app), and it doesn’t do that. Maybe only when using Google phone app?

The thing with winget, i believe, I that when installing non-MS store programs, you still have to go through the program’s installer.
Whereas you don’t need to look at an installer with

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Guys, what's the best Linux distro to install on my PC?
4·3 months agoFrom experience (this was a few years ago, but still holds up even today), yes. The GUI installer is very easy to use (there’s lots of visual stuff to). The one thing that the installer does better that the Debian installer, in my opinion, is partitioning (there’s more visual aids (a slider you can move around, I believe) (a disclaimer: this is basedoff of materials that i read online, not any personal experience)).
If you want images and stuff, you can always look up ‘Calamares installer’ (which I believe is the installer Mint uses)
Wish you the best of luck on your linux journey!

100x this.

3·4 months agoUsed Saily while on vacation. Loved it. Switched on thee same day (where I was going there is a 3 day wait on SIM activation I believe), and the connection was pretty good.

1·4 months agoYes, but I don’t normally program in python, so I never did. When I had to, I never thought of changing it (it wasn’t for long anyways and was less of a thought out decision to do programming in vim)

64·4 months agoThis is the one thing I hate about python, because the spacing would differ between editors. I used vim to create the files on one system, and geany to edit them on another. Via uses 8 spaces in a tab (at least for me), while geany uses 4. This makes python mad, and drives me crazy.
Also, the rules for whitespace separation between things like loops, methods, and the rest of the code is annoying/ wierd (at least to me).

1·6 months agoI don’t think it will. If it does you will need to jump through a ton of hoops to get it working. I remember when I tried to set It up on WSL i had to manually set up anbox binders, and start dbus up every time. Even after that there were errors preventing me from doing anything beyond downloading the image.

2·6 months agoI’d agree that blender is very good. I find that it would be more suited to static stuff and renderings, as well as animations. FreeCAD is more like the commercial CAD software you’d find (Fusion 360, Solidworks).
On the topic of blender, It has some amazing features, and I am amazed at what people do with it (I also find it a bit tricky, but I probably just need to put a few more hours into learning)

Yeah, that was the same thing with me and my windows machines for years (i think I remember it working properly at one point though). I heard they recently fixed it though.
