I agree there is an obfuscation of what is happening under the hood in Windows and Mac systems- but that doesn’t stop the tech savvy from digging a bit further. I played around with resource files back in my System 6, 7, and 8 days, and got pretty comfortable with registry edits from Windows 95 onwards.
I think it’s more that Linux only appeals to the tech savvy, precisely because of the lack of that obfuscation layer.
My understanding is that cookies were generally just used as a fingerprint- it’s just a unique ID that is used to tie your device to their database, which is where the information is kept.
Is there a name for this genre of overcooked-like? Chaos management? Yelling at your friends? Divorce simulator?

Are you worried about this sort of thing in general? I would argue that these things are pretty esoteric concerns.
It’s a jpeg, it has lossy compression. There could be compression at any point in that chain, most likely right on creation of the screenshot, storage on your lemmy instance, download to my device, upload to my colour picker…
There would have been a bunch of image compression and transcoding along the way. Are the other values as expected?

So while it’s slightly more blue than it is green, I would argue that by calling it one or the other, you are cutting yourself off from a whole spectrum of wondrous complexity. Needing to win an argument denies you the subtle beauty of expanding your view of the world, opening your eyes to the possibility that not only is the other side correct, but you are correct as well.
I’m interested in why you chose the i5 for the automation, rather than the video server?
I’m no expert, but things like transcoding (or even just re-encoding) take a lot of grunt, which it seems the i5 would be good for.
The i3 would be good for more constant, lower power tasks like automation.
At least, that’s my thoughts, happy to be shown your reasoning…

Oh jeez, I hadn’t even thought about capitalisation in the file extension. That would be especially confusing if extensions are hidden- the user would be presented with two files that look exactly the same.

As I understand it, if I searched for either of these strings in a case sensitive file system, I would not find a file called ‘IMPORTANTFILE’.
At best, a case sensitive file system makes naming conventions more complex. At worst , it obfuscates files. I just can’t imagine a scenario where it would be helpful. Do you really see a need to have a file called ‘aaaAaa’ and a totally separate one called ‘aaAaaa’?
I don’t think any of the climbers I know would call it an adrenaline sport. It’s slow, considered, thoughtful. It certainly gets a high sometimes, pun intended, but it’s much more akin to a runners high or the elation of finishing a difficult task well.
