This debate is completely lost on me.
Someone was trying to explain that the reason she sends her kids to a private school is because she doesn’t want them to learn about sex when they’re too young.
I don’t get it.
I genuinely don’t see the problem with kids knowing everything their curious minds want to know about reproduction.
She said they’re too young to process it. I think she means they’re too young to process the weird moral overlay she wants them to adopt.
I think that part is just the authoritarian power structure. Everyone depends on him for their own slice, so keeping him in control is in their own interests.
In these threads we’re not really speaking to those people who have e seen the light though. We are collectively mourning what has been lost, and “we told you so” is a somewhat satisfying outlet.

Its not “cold turkey”, because hes had 15 years to work on it. If he hasn’t, then it’s kind of left over Turkey from last weeks thanks giving which has already been re-heated several times.

If that’s FOMO then pretty much every decision could be considered FOMO. I decided to put my shoes on this morning because I was worried everyone else wearing shoes would enjoy the advantages there-of and I would miss out.

I think they know the future is bleak, and they just want to have the best bio dome or whatever the case may be.
As in, they know they’re making things worse, but if they don’t do it someone else will. So in a bleak and shit future, do you want to live like a king, or choke to death like the rest of us.
Sure but if we are building out renewable capability as quick as we can, but it’s being outstripped by demand, then maybe demand is part of the problem.

It just seems kind of absurd to me. I’m sure there’s a few nutters that do want to breed slaves but not as a generally held premise.
I also think there are already sufficient slaves for whatever nefarious plan one might have.
In a bleak dystopian future where you have some kind of over-class that lives in fancy domes and the rest of us toil away in the wasteland, how many slaves or under-class do you need? Fewer than currently exist I imagine.
