low-effort
People always underestimate the work that goes into making sure stuff works. These packages need to be built so they add a lot of compile time to the pipeline, these packages have limitations inherent to 32 bits so they also add troubleshooting and bugs. This is time and resources that could be spent elsewhere.
Apparently there’s a few problems with the flatpak version, like you can’t run gamescope or start a steam big picture session.
That’s not the point, dxvk isn’t gonna get used at all if the game is running dx12 or native vulkan.
People making an informed choice about linux vs windows are a minority, the majority just don’t realize switching is even an option let alone have the technical know-how to go through with it. As long as windows comes pre installed, nothing will touch its hegemony.
So, why are you friendly to Epic?
Kids have plenty of ways to get access to lootboxes that aren’t gated by a credit card, not to mention these games tend to blur the line for paid lootboxes by giving “free” in game premium currencies. Most of these games are fully aware it’s a kid playing, they just turn a blind eye because it profits them.
This whole personal responsibility is the same shit that the plastic industry has managed to pull, they are the ones doing it and they are the ones profiting from it, the responsibility is on them to make sure kids aren’t playing their games.
There’s plenty of different endings, but yeah that’s probably the one they’ll make canon.
The thing is Geralt is The Witcher, making Ciri the protagonist is a bastardization of the saga. Imagine that J.K rowling came up with a new book, titled it Harry Potter 8, and made the protagonist Hermione. To me this shows a real lack of understanding of their audience, people play The Witcher for the fantasy of being Geralt, of being a monster killer, of hooking up with every sorceress. But obviously IP sells, and they aren’t gonna change the title of the saga to something like “child of the elder blood”.
I wish them the best of luck, maybe they’ll pull off a fallout 3 and reinvent themselves. But I personally will be passing on this spinoff.
If anything, Ciri’s the character whose story is wrapped up by the end of Witcher 3, she saved the world and fulfilled her destiny. Unlike Geralt or the sorceresses, she does get old too.
It’s definitely understandable that a lot of players would feel betrayed at having Ciri becoming the MC after 3 games of Geralt. People would riot if you made someone else than Lara Croft the MC of tomb raider. A better solution would probably be a character creator for a new generation of witchers. Ciri is too powerful to be the MC.
It’s not only the people, it’s the people at specific timepoints, nobody wants a remake of skyrim and another iteration of assassin’s creed is only gonna get a lukewarm reception. Games are lightning in a bottle, their successes are basically impossible to replicate because there’s so many variables at play.
It was obviously a cash grab from the company before fucking off, you can’t reasonably expect a lifetime vpn for 30 bucks. Either it eventually gets repriced, or they start mining all your information like every other “free” vpns.
So where’s this image from?
It’s not quite the same though, the first was a TOS update deep inside a document most people will never read, this is an in your face warning to every nintendo player.
The steam deck is just a small pc running Linux, so yes.
Yes look at Nintendo, shitty visuals and high prices.
Yeah, but I really don’t want my computer to look like my phone.
You might not, but it’s certainly easier to use devices when they behave in similar ways. Like I usually install linux on my relatives PCs simply because if they run into an issue I can troubleshoot it much faster.
You do realise that even though it’s not one of the official Mint variants, it’s still possible to install Gnome on Mint with minimal fuss?
Defaults matter because most people just don’t change them. Also that’s a terrible idea, you’ll run into loads of issues and a lack of support for troubleshooting.
Yeah… no, they already have access to all that. It’s the good ol’, if it’s gonna happen anyways might as well get behind it and get some good PR.
