  • I mean, when even people on Lemmy (who are supposed to be a bit more tech literate and stuff) insist that the solution is cutting a couple 2 letter words from your search query to make everything much shorter and efficient, are you even surprised?

I’ve been thinking for a while that people seem to be getting dumber and it might actually be true I don’t think that it’s a coincidence that fascism and other forms of conservatism seem to be on the rise pretty much everywhere in the world.

I just tested. “Angelina jolie heat” gives me tons of shit results, I have to scroll all the way down and then click on “show more results” in order to get the filmography.

“Is angelina jolie in heat” gives me this bluesky post as the first answer and the wikipedia and IMDb filmographies as 2nd and 3rd answer.

So, I dunno, seems like you’re wrong.

  • Abzu? Dave the diver, maybe? Dredge?

Or, this might be a might more out of left field or maybe completely stupid and not at all what you had in mind, but what about coral island? You don’t get to experience the water surface except when fishing or doing other stuff on the shore. But you get to do stuff on the bottom and there’s mermaids and stuff.

Stardew valley with a tropical island vibe. So definitely fun and immersive. Definitely more adjacent than something like sea of thieves or black flag or subnautica, but I feel like it fits better than just cause 3, imo

  • Right, but the fifa series afaik makes most of its money by selling packs of cards with players in them. Packs and players that you can get by just playing. But they still sell those packs for $$, so why wouldn’t it count? Afaik, that’s one of the main culprits besides counter strike that are named when talking about loot boxes

Borderlands the same, you can buy random gear with cash. I guess it’s less fomo and less abusive, but they’re still literal loot boxes that they sell for money

  • Do you even know the meaning of the word claim? I just told you that me asking you to tell me what the common traits are is not me claiming anything. And j even admitted that yes, neighbouring countries usually share common traits. Sometimes even countries that are not neighbouring, such as USA and Japan, I’ve also said that before.

But sure. Or maybe I’m missing something, so yes, please, do show me where exactly I claimed that there are no common traits. And what’s the other thing? Can you also point to that second thing I’ve apparently xlaimed, please.

  • I didn’t imply anything. You inferred all that without asking for clarification. Yes, most neighbouring countries will have common traits. Never claimed otherwise. I just disagree with the monolithic usage of “Europeans” and I just wanted to see what someone that referred to all Europeans as one group thought we had as a common trait. And after 4 comments of pretending to know shit, I got my answer. Thanks. Back to what I said before : deflect, pretend you’re right, never admit you’re wrong.

Saunas are popular in Finland, true. Not so much in Greece. And the Hellenic/Roman public baths, which are quite different from saunas, btw, haven’t actually remained popular in modern Greece nor Italy.

I never said they have zero common traits, but not enough for us to be one big culture or anything close to that. Common traits you can find between Norway and Zimbabwe. Or USA and Japan. Or Nepal and Argentina. Saying “europeans do x” is like saying “Asians do x” or “black people do y”. That’s what’s insane… That you somehow fail to see that. I was recently in Thailand. I guess I know what Asians are like now. AmA!
