That is nice, but I need the Google Play Services for push notifications on the messaging app that everyone in my country uses. It’s sad, I know. If it weren’t for that I wouldn’t log in to a Google account on my Android phone either.

IMO, Windows without a Microsoft account misses out on the least features, when compared to macOS without an Apple ID, iOS without an Apple ID, or Android without a Google accout. Sad that Microsoft keeps making it more and more difficult to bypass logging into a Microsoft accout during installation. But I use Linux anyways (btw)
Agree. On iOS, if you don’t login with an Apple ID, you can’t really install apps. On Android though you can just use F-Droid to install apps just fine.
Not really. I used to take a bus every day to get to the metro station for a distance of only 1.5 km (0.93 mi). But to be fair it’s because I was always on a tight schedule.
I like Zen for its different interface. I like having a built-in vertical tab bar. It’s not as focused on privacy and security as Librewolf is, though.
Yes, like the Vietnamese name “Nguyen”, but not like “wininks”. The best I could describe it is as a hybrid between “ninks” and “ginks”. Pronounce the first consonant with the back of your tongue while keeping the image of pronouncing an “n” sound in your head.
I like to pronounce it as nginks like fucking inks. Yes, with a ng sound in the beginning.
They look great! Now I want even more strawberries…
This is what the ¥862 strawberries look like.
2000 yen for strawberries? How much strawberry is that? I got a handful of strawberries for ¥862 today.
Yes, the rice is expensive.
True. It doesn’t even install on Android 14.
Fcitx5 is the best for Chinese. Honestly very impressed that there is a open-source keyboard this good for Chinese. Only thing missing is fat finger error correction (like autocorrect but it works on the preedit text instead of text already output)
Fcitx5 for Chinese, and Flickboard for English. Honestly sad that there isn’t a decent open-source keyboard for Japanese though.
No, I don’t think Lemmy supports following users.
I believe the English one is the original. The “original” one (the one in Chinese) was probably translated from English.
Hmm I see. Interesting.
It’s actually rice topped with an omelette, and the with some sauce thing made thick with potato starch. It’s called tenshinhan, which is a Japanese reimagination of the food they have in Tianjin, China. As far as I know this dish is just named after that city in China, but it’s not actually from there.
Impressive, you figured out it was a university coop cafe. Maybe I should have edited out the text to avoid doxxing myself haha.
True, the coops are one of the cheapest options. I also eat quite often at one of the beef set meal chains (one of sukiya, yoshinoya, or matsuya). Solid choice too.
my bombass lunch today for ¥616 (~US$3.94)
holy fuck i think i’ve seen this exact guy on the metro multiple times. no clue why he does this or who he is though.
