“This is not what I voted for”
“This is not what I voted for”
This is why anti-American rhetoric is being pushed to you
As a Canadian, I can assure you the anti-american sentiment does not come from any rhetoric being pushed. The actions of trump and co are quite enough.
I don’t think you can claim refugee status in Canada if you are an American citizen.
At that point, he’ll die, Vance will take his place, and will be so un-charismatic that he’ll be defeated by a Democrat in 2028 which will find themselves with all this power thanks to the Supreme Court… but will prefer to take the high road and reach across the aisle only to get fucked once again.
Well, I tried.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see political opponents falling from windows before the next midterms.
By this standard, Windows isn’t ready either. I use Mint, Windows and Mac interchangeably at work, and of the three, Windows is definitely the one with the most unpleasant surprises: computer slowing down for no apparent reason, printers disappearing, updates forcing you to reboot in the middle of something…
Mac is fantastic if you don’t mind feeling like your computer doesn’t belong to you.
This is what happens when there is no more rule of law. Now migrants are sent away, tomorrow citizens will be arbitrarily jailed and criminals freed, next political opponents will be gunned in the streets while the cops will be told to look the other way.
Wake up US. Fight this, no one will if you don’t.
These days the only hope I have left for the US is that everyone on the left become a dem party member and primary the shit out of all these “high road” cowards.
Trump and co won’t stop, and there won’t be a backlash if it’s not supported politically.
If Democrats had some sort of plan against what’s happening, they would ALL be saying this, over and over, to all journalists in every news organization and podcast.
They should lead the pushback but they look like spectators.
The only thing at this point that could prevent the USA from annexing Canada is a civil war to deal with. So yeah, it’s gonna get worse before it gets better.
Vote. In every election. In the primaries. The city you live in. The school council. And convince everyone you know to vote, too. Protest. Strike. Make people you know angry about what’s happening so they are motivated to stir shit up. You still can change things, but you are right: you can’t do it alone. So find as many people you can who can do it with you. Time is running out.
Social media contributes to the polarization of public discourse and should absolutely be boycotted. However, this polarization manifests in various ways, and your comment is a good example of this. When everything becomes a purity test, we fall into extremism. To counter the rise of fascism, you must be willing to unite with those who do not share your opinions.
Exactly. They should simply act like leaders do, show the example by actively resisting, blocking everything they can. Simple as that. The non-millionaires in the party know this, but the leadership is sooooo disconnected they don’t realize what their constituents want.
There are a LOT of things Trump & co are doing right now that are beyond presidential power or even downright illegal. Biden and Obama didn’t act like this because they couldn’t. Trump’s acting fast because the people that wrote project 2025 planned it like that. They took a bet that the rest of the country would just watch them, mouth open and do nothing. Seems they were right.
And democrats still hesitate to resist like they should.
Call your representatives, show them you want this to stop.
Do you have an example? From where I am, I don’t see too much resistance (apart from the FBI agents suing the DOJ).
I’ll just leave this here: https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/26184
Saw this two years ago, it completely changed the way I understand the geopolitics of the last hundred years. And Curtis makes documentaries that feel like art, this one with fantastic archives from the BBC.
Is it true though? Not sure it’s the case: Lina Khan was nominated by Biden.
This, 100%. Fanning the flames of outrage only works on people who are already on your side.
