It marks the first long-term, stable operation of the technology, putting China at the forefront of a global race to harness thorium – considered a safer and more abundant alternative to uranium – for nuclear power.

The experimental reactor, located in the Gobi Desert in China’s west, uses molten salt as the fuel carrier and coolant, and thorium – a radioactive element abundant in the Earth’s crust – as the fuel source. The reactor is reportedly designed to sustainably generate 2 megawatts of thermal power.

    The “human rights” standard of western imperialist countries is laughable hypocrisy. The US alone makes China look like the paragon of justice.

            There are 2x as many Blacks in prison in the US as Uyghurs in China. But we don’t call it genocide just like we call our rich Billionaires instead of oligarchs. At least for now we can make fun of Trump without being arrested. But I don’t know how much longer that will last.

              We don’t call it genocide because words mean things and that does not constitute genocide, whereas China’s attempts to wipe out the Uighurs do.
