The only speech I don’t defend is hate speech. Everything else must be fair game, no matter how much I personally don’t like it or how much I disagree.

Fascism implies hate speech, and that’s what the “right” is all about in most countries right now.

I feel like this is exactly the sort of thing that makes the guy on the right in the comic feel the way he does. Call enough random people Nazis as hyperbole and you can boy-who-cried-wolf your way into being ignored when they’re genuinely at it in full view (aka Musk the other day).

this is why facism should be redefined and renamed based on that definition, in my opinion. The whole concept has been saturated so badly you cant even use it anymore as is evident in what is happening.

Its more than just bunch of assholes doing and saying bad things, its like disease that spreads to vulnerable people after enough exposure. And i’m not saying its actually disease or taking control of people, human brains just work in such a way.

But if left unchecked it will lead to wars, atrocities and also likely destruction of our potential as intelligent beings. After they run out of outsiders to hate they will turn on eachother until there is nothing left. They also wont care about environment until its so far gone nothing can be done and planet cant sustain advanced enough civilization that can even leave it.

I think that’s a broad brush to paint with and that the majority of people identifying with right wing politics are in reality rather moderate.

You could argue that the moderate right enable the extreme right but that’s a different debate.
