I’d call myself a cinaphile, a term I had not known till recent. I couldn’t call myself a film critic, or a film buff.
Its no secret that I am a socialist, I hope that with my posts and replies that others may follow. If you like what I have to say I would recommend checking Cowbee’s comprehensive list credit to comrade @[email protected] for they’re work

1·1 month agoI’ve met some in this campaign who like AI, but they don’t take much convincing once the material conditions are explained. I’m sure most of those students will continue to use AI. 90% of the students I’ve spoken with so far agree tho. I’d imagine the education institutions are getting some form of kick back or guidance from AI firms/partners, we saw similar with PCs entering education, something silicon valley opt their own children out off.

14·1 month agoI’ve been working on formal a socialist students society, our first and current campaign is fighting back against AI in the local college, the reaction from students has been electric. Students don’t want this, they know they are being deskilled, they know who profits.

21·5 months agoI would call my brother a geek, a collector of shit, expensive cards, moulded plastics, I love him for it but I see it as vapid. Whereas I am a nerd, I research and act with caution when it comes to spending, I own a mechanical watch which I can repair myself, I buy leather shoes with soles that can be replaced at a cobblers, run Linux on my desktop, custom ROM on my phone.
Geeks are nerds who enjoy gimmicky things, nerds are geeks seeking purpose.

My mums funny with it, we met a few weeks ago and said she wanted a new (very expensive) watch and was particular with model and brand, I asked what had got her on to it, she said Facebook has been showing the watch to her for weeks, she later that day spend £3600 for that watch on finance.
I would feel used and like a sucker but she doesn’t make that same connection. Facebook are just showing her what she wants
Like most others here; I don’t see adds on my phone. Now when I use someone else’s, or a ‘smart’ TV or a library computer…
Using Debian as my main laptop distro, I am usually an arch user but figured with it being a light weight laptop I wouldn’t need arch, its been fine but installing updates can be frustrating, after a few weeks gnomes appstore breaks, then I need to use terminal to apt update, apt --fix-broken install.

2·7 months agoThe Binding of Issac. Hands down my favourite game and a work of pure dedication.

People parroting this are falling for the capitalist propaganda. Unions work so well that the ruling class has employed a mass campaign against unions. That isn’t weakness.
We the working class keep our society running, we can shut our society down, and this scares the shit out of the ruling classes who while wealthy in assets, are weak in number.
