Late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmelhas saidan upcoming interview with the Democratic Senate candidate from Texas James Talarico will not air on ABC, the US network that broadcasts his show, after the federal media regulator “threatened” his show, ABC and its local affiliates.
“Tomorrow night I’ll be interviewing James Talarico under unusual circumstances,” Kimmel said during his opening monologue on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Wednesday.
Kimmel said that since the show began over 20 years ago, he has interviewed “Americans who are running for office with no problem at all”, noting that this ranged “from Hillary Clinton to Ted Cruz to Donald Trump himself”…
…“Now that he is president, his FCC [Federal Communications Commission] has threatened me, threatened our show, threatened our network, ABC, our affiliates, our local stations based on simple traditional editorial decisions, guest bookings it would seem they don’t like.
“And so out of consideration for our local stations, especially our ABC affiliates in Texas, who would have to deal with this nonsense, my interview tomorrow with James Talarico will not air on television,” he said. “It will be posted on YouTube instead.”
Its honestly hilarious how scared the GOP is of losing Texas
There is a reason all the crazy fucks moved there. They think it will break away as a last resort. It is also the republican powerhouse revenue wise. But if democrats take the governor and senate and enact reforms, republicans as a whole are fucked
We knew some people that moved to Texas because Colorado was “too woke”, whatever the fuck that means. I just remember the husband bitching about some run-in he had with a woman in Boulder. She didn’t sound exactly pleasant if he is to be believed, but also, that doesn’t mean that all liberals or all of Boulder or all of Colorado is like that.
Within months of them moving, we heard via the grapevine that both the wife and husband were Karening the fuck out about something once they moved to Texas. I think at least one of them was having trouble lining up (reliable) work.
I would love to see how they’d react to Texas flipping blue after they “escaped” Colorado. :)
Straight up censorship.
Yes. At least there’s a good secondary outcome though; the censorship here will almost guarantee the Streisand effect, especially given late night viewership numbers compared to people who will look it up on YouTube because it’s in the news.
Great job, FCC, now even people who wouldn’t have watched it on ABC will be curious and watch it on YouTube.
Well I did nazi that coming.
(a brief pause)
On second thought, yes I did see that coming.
I’d love to see Brendan Carr arrested.
Don’t hold your breath. Trumps last act as president will be to pardon all his cronies.
A pardon doesn’t prevent the US in assisting international investigations with packaging them up and sending them to The Hague.
Wrong. George Bush passed this as a cover my ass for his war crimes.

Republicans will literally do this and then have the audacity to say they’re the ones being silenced
“I’m being cancelled!” they whine.
As they vote for the asshole that is pals with fElon and put Carr in the FCC who basically cancelled Colbert and wants to cancel Kimmel (and probably Seth and probably the Daily Show), and has his DOJ investigating the investigators of his crimes.
Push back on the trans sports issue Jimmy
This interview should be locked at the top of Everything
The Guardian being too chickenshit to call this censorship in the headline. Useless enablers doing sanewashing for the oligarchs as usual.
Because nobody will see it on YouTube, right?
Because the FCC can’t come up with a pretext to stop it posting on YouTube
More people have access to YouTube than a television.
