…
As is universally acknowledged in the media, the 2026 midterm election was the greatest electoral repudiation of a sitting president in over half a century, and one of the largest in American history. The shift against Trump ran through every region of the country and every section of the population, and it was sharpest among rural voters, young men and workers whom Trump had claimed as his base.
The vote was a rejection not only of Trump but of the entire agenda of his administration. It expressed mass opposition to the growth of social inequality, war, the assault on immigrants and attacks on democratic rights.
Yet the Democrats came out immediately offering bipartisanship.
Hakeem Jeffries, who is expected to become speaker of the House in January, declared that Democrats are “ready, willing and able to find bipartisan common ground” and that “the American people don’t want us to get even.” He added that not a single member of his caucus had raised impeachment with him.
Barack Obama declared that Americans “want a politics that brings people together rather than divides them.” The same line was repeated in various forms by newly elected Democrats: a call to “restore a sense of decency and bipartisanship in Washington,” (Kansas Senator-elect Adam Hamilton); the assurance that “come January, we will be forced to work together,” (Iowa Governor-elect Rob Sand); a disavowal of any interest “in moving Minnesota to the left or the right,” (Minnesota Governor-elect Amy Klobuchar).
James Talarico, elected to the Senate from Texas, said he had not been elected “for retribution.” On immigration, the policy of mass roundups, detention camps and deportations, he said one should “give the president credit where credit is due.”
This response demonstrates the fraudulent character of the elections and the imperviousness of the ruling elite to the will of the population. The Democrats are not acting as an opposition party that has defeated the government. They do not need Republican support. They will hold substantial majorities in both the House and the Senate. Why, then, are they talking about bipartisanship at all?
They treat the losing party as if it had won, and a hated president as a suitor whose favor they seek. It is as if Abraham Lincoln, reelected in November 1864 on a program of prosecuting the war to victory and abolishing slavery, had responded by offering “common ground” to the Confederacy.
…
I mean they should promise it, and advertise it; but have no intention to do it; gaslight the republicans at every turn.
This is all so they can keep that AIPAC gravy train a rollin’.
Tou-fucking-ché
Democrats or the old guard (Schumer/ Jeffries)?? Fuken plants
For fuck’s sake, these people never learn. You can’t find a middle ground with fascists, and there is no appeasement that will make their cruelty stop.
You guys really need to get rid of these fossils and centrists. They’re stuck in some imaginary past where conservatives were reasonable, or something. Get some new people who aren’t hiding from reality.
Makes more sense when you realize much of the Democratic leadership are also fascists. Just not as loud about it.
The establishment is still betting on that they can get their robot armies before the tame folks of the US lift their asses from the chair to revolt.
If these establishment fucks don’t do anything then we’re fucked and they don’t care.
If they screw us over again, then THEY are fucked, and we’ll make them care.
As expected… how are people still shocked?
There’s no common ground with corrupt fascist pedophiles unless you’re also a corrupt fascist pedophile
Bipartisanship should have been out the door in 2009. The filibuster in 2010. That is where they should start. Anything short of that, and we should be rioting harder than anything trump got. This is enabling the next fascist.
I will literally never vote dem again if they fuck this up.
Become an Unaffiliated Independent, and don’t vote based on party. Vote based on which candidates are addressing the issues that are important to you.
Nobody gets elected from their base alone, it is the Indies who decide EVERY race. Become an Unaffiliated Independent, and make them earn your vote every time.
Doesn’t leave you many options if that’s how you really feel.
No it does not. But I refuse to reward bad behavior now. If they fuck this up, I swear to god.
Doesn’t make sense.
This is not what I voted for.
If you voted D, this is exactly what you voted for. Fool me once… you are on “fool me every time and I will be shocked and blame you” still… This was the most predictable course in the history of politics.
There is no bipartisan common ground, so the centrist placeholders can slurp shit and fuck off.
Schumer and Jeffries, and whomever is pulling their strings, must be excised from the party immediately if there’s going to be any real change.
AIPAC
Sounds like you have some purity tests for the democratic party to pass. I regret to inform you that we dont do purity tests in the USA.
😏
Rejecting Genocide is not a purity test. It is the very most basic test of humanity. Supporting genocide is fascist. There’s no room for fascists
Or you are literally witnessing it happening right now?
Again with this bullsh*t. There is no common ground with fascism, and any Democrat saying this is proving that they’re nothing more than controlled opposition.
Ugh die already chuck
